In a heartfelt appeal to the people of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah and member of the UAE’s Supreme Council, has called on every resident to take part in the Sharjah Census 2025. The census will take place from October 15 to December 31, 2025, and aims to collect accurate information that will help shape the emirate’s future.
During a live phone interview on Sharjah Radio and Television’s Direct Line programme, Sheikh Sultan explained the importance of the upcoming census. He said the data collected will directly help him understand the lives of Sharjah’s residents — from their living conditions to financial needs — allowing the government to improve services and living standards for everyone.
“Every person in Sharjah who shares their data is communicating with me directly through this census,” Sheikh Sultan said. “It helps me see even the smallest details of our people’s lives so that I can offer meaningful assistance.”
The Purpose Behind the Census
The Ruler of Sharjah made it clear that the Sharjah Census 2025 is not just a formality — it is a major step toward better governance and planning.
- The information collected will remain completely confidential.
- Data will not be made public or shared without official direction.
- Only authorized departments, such as the Social Services Department, may review specific cases to assist families or individuals in need.
Sheikh Sultan emphasized that the data will guide decisions about new housing projects, social services, education improvements, and job creation.
How the Census Benefits Everyone
Sheikh Sultan shared several examples of how past census results have brought positive change to Sharjah:
- Increased family income – Previous data helped the government raise the minimum family income level to Dh17,500.
- New residential areas – The emirate expanded housing projects to meet growing demand.
- Public services and facilities – More schools, parks, and community spaces were developed.
- Employment opportunities – Census insights led to new job creation for Sharjah’s youth.
He added that without accurate information, it becomes difficult for the government to design effective welfare and development programs.
Ruler’s Advice to Families
Besides urging participation in the census, Sheikh Sultan also shared valuable advice for families and young residents:
- Spend wisely and focus on essential needs.
- Avoid unnecessary debts or luxury purchases through bank loans.
- Think long-term about family stability and the future of children.
“It is not wise to buy luxuries with debt and end up with nothing left from your salary,” he said. “We want every father and mother to think about their children’s interests and their future.”
Why Cooperation Matters
The Sharjah Ruler also warned that those who fail to register for the census could miss out on future benefits. He stressed the importance of full cooperation with census officials, saying that every household’s participation ensures that the emirate’s growth and resources are distributed fairly.
He assured residents that the census is safe, confidential, and vital for everyone’s future.
Sharjah’s Growing Population
According to the Sharjah Census 2022, the emirate’s population grew by 22%, reaching 1.8 million — up from 1.4 million in 2015. Among these, around 208,000 were Emiratis, and 1.6 million were expatriates. The report also revealed that 61% of residents were part of the active workforce, showing Sharjah’s strength as one of the UAE’s fastest-growing and most diverse economies.
With the Sharjah Census 2025, the government aims to build upon this growth by creating new opportunities and enhancing quality of life for all residents.
A Call to Action
The Ruler of Sharjah ended his message with a hopeful note:
“This census is a way for my people to reach me directly. Together, we will use this data to make Sharjah stronger, more prosperous, and more caring for every family.”
Residents are encouraged to participate actively and provide complete information during the census period. This effort will help guide policies, improve social welfare, and ensure that every resident of Sharjah — Emirati or expatriate — benefits from the emirate’s development journey.
