New Delhi:
Actor and BJP Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut has strongly welcomed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s historic victory in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. Calling the result a “people’s verdict,” Kangana congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and the BJP’s Maharashtra leadership for what she described as a decisive and meaningful win.

The BMC is India’s richest municipal body, and control over it has always carried major political importance. This year’s election results have ended the long-standing dominance of the Shiv Sena faction led by Uddhav Thackeray, marking a major political shift in Mumbai.

Kangana Calls BMC Result a Personal and Political Victory

For Kangana Ranaut, the BMC election outcome is not just a political event—it also carries deep personal meaning. In 2020, when the undivided Shiv Sena was in power, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation demolished a portion of her Mumbai bungalow, including her office space. The action had sparked nationwide debate, and later, the Bombay High Court ruled that the demolition was driven by “malice in law.”

Reacting to the current results, Kangana said the people of Maharashtra have now delivered their answer.

“For those who abused me, demolished my house, threatened me, and asked me to leave Maharashtra—today Maharashtra has left them,” she told NDTV.

She added that the verdict reflects public rejection of what she called bullying politics and entitlement.

“I am glad that women-haters, bullies, and the nepotism mafia are finally being shown their real place by the janta janardan,” Kangana said.

BJP’s Strong Performance Across Mumbai Wards

According to early trends, the BJP has taken a commanding lead in Mumbai’s civic body. Out of the 227 total wards in the BMC, results and trends were available for 210 seats at the time of reporting.

Here’s how the numbers looked:

  • BJP leading in around 90 wards
  • Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena ahead in 28 wards
  • Ajit Pawar-led NCP leading in just 3 wards

These figures show a clear edge for the BJP-led alliance and a sharp decline in influence for rival parties that once controlled Mumbai’s civic administration.

Opposition Camp Struggles to Hold Ground

On the opposition side, the picture appeared fragmented and weaker than expected:

  • Shiv Sena (UBT) leading in 57 wards
  • Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) ahead in 9 wards
  • Congress, contesting with the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), leading in 15 wards
  • Other parties and independents ahead in 8 wards

These numbers confirm that the Shiv Sena (UBT) has lost its long-held grip over the BMC. Political analysts say this defeat could have long-term consequences for the party’s influence in Mumbai and across urban Maharashtra.

Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Results Send a Clear Signal

Beyond Mumbai, results from Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation elections also sent a strong political message. These urban centres were once seen as strongholds where the Pawar name alone could sway voters.

However, despite coordination between the two Nationalist Congress Party factions led by Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar, voters did not unite behind them. Experts believe this shows that urban voters are now prioritising governance, development, and leadership clarity over political legacy.

Political Experts See a Changing Urban Voter Mindset

Political observers say the 2026 civic election results highlight a major shift in Maharashtra’s urban politics. Voters appear less influenced by traditional party loyalty and more focused on performance, accountability, and stability.

This trend mirrors broader national discussions seen in Lok Sabha Elections, India Politics, Breaking News, and even conversations influenced by the Stock Market and Inflation Impact, where governance confidence plays a major role.

Kangana’s Final Message to Supporters

Ending her reaction on a confident note, Kangana Ranaut said the BJP’s victory belongs to every citizen who believes in fairness and equal treatment.

“This is not just a party’s win. It is a victory of truth, courage, and people’s power,” she said.

As celebrations continue within the BJP camp, the BMC election results are expected to reshape Mumbai’s civic governance and influence Maharashtra’s political roadmap ahead.
